Module 1 - Sustainable Development

Module 1 is an introduction to sustainability and the key sustainability concepts and challenges. It introduces some of the key global sustainability initiatives, frameworks and agreements, as well as the standards set to measure compliance with the SDGs. The module offers methodologies for monitoring and evaluation of the means by which sustainability is translated into practical action, and it aims to offer basic knowledge for informed policy-making. The module covers a brief overview of the Millennium development goals, the SDGs, good governance and localization of the SDGs, and enhances the general understanding of what a sustainable municipality should look like, how municipalities can evaluate the sustainability of their projects and what global challenges hinder achieving their sustainability goals.
